FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Below are some of our most frequently asked questions.

1. How much do
you cost?We charge
$100 per hour to appear at your event. That's it. We do not
charge for equipment setup and breakdown time, however. This
means that if your party starts at 6pm and lasts until 10pm
(that's 4 hours total for you non-math people) we will be
there from 5pm until 11pm (6 hours total). You only have to
pay for the agreed 4 hours of party time ($400.00 total).
There are no hidden fees. We do require a $100.00,
non-refundable deposit for booking, but this comes out of your
total bill and is not an additional charge.
2. How much
control can I have over the music selection? You can have as much or as
little control over the music selection as you want. Our
control-freak customers really love us because we are willing
to hand over the reigns, if needed, and our apathetic
customers… well, they don't really care either way. Chances
are, you fall somewhere in between. This is why we make it a
point to plan your event carefully with you to be sure you
hear what you want and to be sure we know what our boundaries
are. We have music lists to help you pick out your requests
and make up your "no-play" list. Additionally, if you have
particular favorites that aren't on the list, just let us
know, and we can get music specifically for your event. We
pride ourselves on being able to track down any artist, any
style, any song. And chances are we have it already. After
all, our motto is "We like what you like."
3. Can I buy
extra hours at the event if my group wants to keep dancing
late? What will that cost me?We know that a good party tends
to have a mind of its own and may run over a little. This is
no problem for us. We are willing to stay as long as you are
in order to keep your guests happy. The only possible
exception would be a scheduling conflict where staying late at
your event means arriving late for another event elsewhere
(this is pretty darn unlikely, however). Our overtime fee is
exactly the same as our advance booking fee: $100.00 per hour.
The only difference is that overtime is billed by the
half-hour to give you the maximum in flexibility. If the party
dies ten minutes after a new overtime hour starts, you
shouldn't have to pay for the entire hour. We've found that
selling extra time in $50.00, half-hour blocks is the way to
go.
4. Do you guys
do Karaoke?Unfortunately, no. We have
equipment for karaoke and hope to offer karaoke shows soon. At
this time, though, we're still building our karaoke song
catalog. If you need karaoke services in addition to a Spin
Twins DJ set, we will be happy to refer you to a professional
karaoke company in order to fill your needs.
5. How do you
deal with cancellations? The Spin Twins require a $100.00
non-refundable deposit to ensure booking. This means that we
must receive your deposit prior to penciling you in for your
date and that if you cancel your event after booking, we keep
your deposit. These terms are listed in the Spin Twins service
contract. This is simply our way to ensure that a customer
intends to follow through with the agreement rather than bail
out, leaving us with an empty, boring night at home watching
television, or worse, having us haul all of our gear to a
location to find there's already another DJ set up.
Ouch.
6. Do you guys
crack lame jokes and make asses of yourselves? The Spin Twins firmly believe
that the best way to entertain a crowd with music is to play
good music, not pretend to be stand up comics in between the
songs. You've probably seen DJs who try to get the crowd to
dance by patronizing them with gimmicky party tricks or
over-the-top voice impersonations. We find those DJs very
amusing, but not in a good way. It doesn't take a Ph.D. in
psychology to know that if the guests aren't enjoying the
music program, it's not because there isn't enough slapstick
in the show, but because the music isn't what they're into.
Comedy and games can be a lot of fun if that's what the people
want… but if done poorly or at the wrong time, things can get
pretty ugly.
7. Could you,
please?The Spin Twins
motto has always been "We like what you like." We stand by
that statement 100%. If you have an activity-minded crowd that
likes a lot of goofing around on the mic instead of just
dancing and listening to the tunes, we have no problem going a
little crazy to make you happy. We can even dress up for
swingin' theme parties if that's your bag, baby. If you're
just too cheap to hire both a DJ and Jay Leno, we can fill the
gap a little, but we prefer to let the music speak for itself.
(A high-profile DJ personality with a great deal of
between-song banter will add a charge of $100.00. Prosthetic
Jay Leno chin rental may incur an additional fee.)
8. Do your
shows automatically include lights and décor? No. The $100.00 per hour fee
doesn't include a light show for the dance floor. We have
lasers, strobes and all sorts of multi-colored, shiny, blinky
light gadgets, but they cost a little extra to add on to your
basic DJ set. (Call for prices.)
9. I really
need a: (couple of extra mics, monitor, tape deck, etc.). Can
you handle special equipment needs?es, we can. The gear listed in
our "Equipment" section is simply the standard setup. If you
need something special like extra microphones and monitor
speakers for a singing group, we can provide those if
requested. Just let us know what you need and we'll tell you
if we can help. We've got a lot of pro performance equipment
and if we don't have it, chances are we can get it from
somebody and bring it along.
10. How do you
handle requests?Requests at a Spin Twins show
are handled in accord with the guidelines that you supply in
your Event Planner form. If you supply us with a "No Play"
list, we will be sure to exclude the tracks that you specify,
even if your guests request them. Our motto is "We like what
you like," therefore we will always protect your interests
diplomatically and professionally when dealing with requests.
This applies not only to specific songs, but also any song or
artist with similar styles, themes or language. That being
said, we always do our best to play as many requests as we can
in the time allotted. This gives your guests a chance to hear
the songs that they want to hear.
